LENT 1010
The Lenten season is a richly spiritual time in the church year. Its seven and one-half weeks remind us of Jesus' 40 days in the desert at the beginning of his ministry-a time when he prayed and engaged in personal reflection on his relationship with God. You are invited to the following worship services and events at St. Andrews during Lent:
February 17 - ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP SERVICE, 7:00 PM. This service, which helps us begin our individual Lenten journeys, includes prayer, music, a meditation, the imposition of ashes, and communion.
March 31 - SEDER, 5:30 PM. This event includes the readings and rituals used in a Jewish Seder (in English) and concludes with dinner.
April 1 - MAUNDY THURSDAY WORSHIP SERVICE, 7:00 PM. Through Scripture readings, hymns, and special music, Jesus' last supper, his betrayal, and his arrest are recalled. The service ends with the congregation moving outdoors to drape the cross with a black cloth.
April 4 - Our EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE, which includes special music and communion, takes place at 11:00 AM. |
